Product Introduction

product-516-405

Crusher plate is the primary wear component inside a jaw crusher, forming the two faces of the crushing chamber where raw material is broken down under compressive force. In primary crushing operations - handling feed sizes that can exceed 1,000 mm - the fixed jaw plate and swing jaw plate absorb continuous impact and abrasion simultaneously, making material quality and manufacturing precision the two factors that determine how long a set of plates lasts before scheduled replacement.

Advantages

Wear life driven by process control, not just alloy grade

Computer-controlled staged heating + low-temp water quenching ensures a fully austenitic structure for maximum work-hardening. Delivered at HB200, work-hardens to HB500+. Each batch is verified to ASTM A128 / GB/T 13932 to prevent early brittle failure.

Precision fit for crusher frames

Machined to OEM-equivalent tolerances for major crusher brands to ensure perfect seating, preventing movement, uneven wear, and unplanned downtime. All plates undergo PT + UT inspection before shipment to eliminate cracks and internal defects.

Factory-direct supply with full traceability

All processes in-house: casting, heat treatment, machining, and NDT. No intermediaries. Each shipment includes full documentation: material report, heat treatment curve, hardness record, and inspection results for supply chain compliance.

Full engineering support

Engineering team supports selection, tooth profile matching, and post-installation wear analysis. Guidance includes inversion strategy and replacement optimization to extend service life and reduce incorrect specification risk.

Material Options

Selecting the correct alloy grade is the first decision in any plate replacement. The table below covers Duma's standard lineup and the conditions each grade is designed for.

Grade Mn Content Best For Typical Work-Hardening
Mn14 (ZGMn13) ~13–14% Soft to medium rock; recycled concrete and asphalt; low-impact feeds where cost control matters Surface HB200 to HB400+
Mn18 ~18% General mining and quarrying: granite, basalt, river gravel, limestone with medium abrasiveness Surface HB200 to HB450+
Mn22 ~22% Hard rock and high-impact conditions: iron ore, quartz, diabase; large feed sizes in primary crushing Surface HB200 to HB500+
High Chrome Iron (Cr26+) N/A Extremely abrasive, low-impact feeds where abrasion dominates over impact; silica sand, dry limestone High initial hardness, limited work-hardening
TIC Insert Composite Mn18 base + TiC Maximum service life in the most abrasive conditions; copper ore, gold ore, highly siliceous rock Exceptional wear resistance at contact surface

Not sure which grade fits your ore? Send us your rock type and crusher model and our engineers will recommend the optimal alloy at no charge.

Installation & Maintenance Notes

Alloy grade handles the wear resistance side of the equation. Tooth profile controls how material grips, moves, and fractures through the chamber. An unsuitable profile shortens plate life even when the steel grade is correct, and it affects throughput consistency and product size distribution.

Each Crushing Jaw Liner profile behaves differently against the swing plate during the crushing stroke. Profiles with deeper tooth slots hold material more aggressively, which improves reduction ratio but increases stress concentration at the tooth root. Shallower or corrugated profiles distribute force more evenly and suit a wider range of feed materials.

Profile Structure Best Application
Standard / Straight Tooth Uniform tooth pitch, moderate depth General-purpose primary crushing; limestone, river gravel, mixed feed
Corrugated (Chevron) Alternating high-low tooth pattern Hard rock prone to slipping; granite, basalt, iron ore; improves grip and reduces material bypass
Super Grip Wider tooth spacing, reinforced flanks Medium-hard rock requiring balanced grip and wear distribution across both plates
Quarry-Specific (Deep Tooth) Deep tooth slots, thickened swing plate Highly abrasive hard rock in quarry primary stages; extends replacement intervals
Anti-Binding (Asymmetric High Tooth) Asymmetric fixed-plate tooth height Wet or clay-contaminated feed prone to packing; clears the lower crushing zone between strokes

Custom profiles are available on request based on drawings or worn sample measurement. Contact Duma's engineering team with your ore type, feed size, and crusher model for a profile recommendation.

Quality Inspection

These practices consistently extend plate replacement intervals and are worth passing to site maintenance teams:

Initial bolt re-torque

High manganese steel seats gradually under the first hours of impact load. Inspect and re-torque all jaw wedges and fixing bolts within 48 hours of starting a new set of plates. Fasteners that were correctly torqued at installation will have loosened.

Even feed distribution

Off-center or channeled feed concentrates wear on one side of the chamber. Central, full-width feed distribution is the single most effective maintenance practice for extending plate life.

Inversion strategy

At around 50% wear of the lower fixed jaw tooth height, the plate can be flipped and reinstalled to redistribute wear, extending service life by 30–50%. Applicable to most Metso C-series and Sandvik CJ-series crushers.

Replacement timing

Replace when tooth wear reaches ~80% of original height or when throughput and product size consistency decline. Delaying replacement risks frame contact and costly structural damage.

Can Duma produce plates from a worn sample?

Yes. Send the worn plate or accurate dimensional measurements and Duma's engineering team will develop a new casting pattern. Most reverse-engineered patterns are ready within the standard 35–45 day production lead time.

Do you supply both fixed and swing plates, or individual pieces?

Both. Duma supplies complete matched sets (fixed and swing) as well as individual plates. Jaw wedges, cheek plates, fixing bolts, and nuts are also available as part of a one-stop rebuild kit.

Can I flip the jaw plates to extend service life?

Yes, on most crusher frames. When lower-section wear on the fixed plate reaches approximately 50% of original tooth height, the plate can be inverted and reinstalled, distributing wear across the full plate and extending the replacement interval. Duma's technical team can confirm whether this applies to your specific crusher model and frame configuration.

What warranty and after-sales support does Duma provide?

All plates carry a 12-month warranty against casting defects from the delivery date. Technical support - including wear analysis from site photos, installation guidance, and alloy consultation for reorders - is available through Duma's engineering team. For quality concerns, material reports, heat treatment curves, and NDT records for the relevant production batch are available on request.
