To adjust the crushing performance of a cone crusher, a key factor is to regulate the gap between the cone crushing wall (the moving cone) and the cone crushing bowl (the fixed cone). By raising or lowering the upper shell, this gap can be flexibly adjusted to precisely control the size of the crushed material.

1.Determine the reference position: Position the crushing wall close to the crushing bowl
When adjusting the cone crusher, the first step is to establish a reference position, typically by moving the cone crushing wall close to the cone crushing bowl. This action lays the foundation for subsequent fine adjustments and ensures that the crusher operates in an optimal condition.
2.Move the crushing wall to the operational position
Based on the reference position, the operator can raise or lower the upper shell to precisely move the cone crushing wall to the desired gap position. This adjustment can be made using the crusher's adjustment mechanism to ensure that the gap between the crushing wall and the crushing bowl meets the production requirements.
3.Adjust the product output size
Raising or lowering the position of the cone crushing bowl directly affects the output size of the crushed product. When the crushing bowl is raised, the gap between the walls increases, resulting in larger particles in the output. Conversely, lowering the crushing bowl reduces the gap, leading to finer product particles. This adjustment not only helps meet different process requirements but also improves production efficiency and product quality.
4.Open Side Setting (OSS) and Closed Side Setting (CSS)
The maximum distance between the crushing wall and the crushing bowl is called the Open Side Setting (OSS), while the minimum distance is referred to as the Closed Side Setting (CSS). The OSS directly determines the size of the largest particles in the output material, so a proper OSS setting is crucial for controlling the product's particle size and distribution. The CSS, on the other hand, determines the smallest particle size in the crushed material, which is vital for fine crushing.
By precisely adjusting the OSS and CSS, the operator can achieve fine control over the crusher's output product size, optimize the crushing process, and enhance production efficiency.
Adjusting the gap between the cone crushing wall and the cone crushing bowl is a key step in ensuring effective crushing and product quality. By raising and lowering the upper shell and adjusting the position of the crushing wall, the crusher's performance can be flexibly changed to meet the demands of different production processes.
