How to Extend the Service Life of Crusher Hammers

Duma Machinery Technical Tips: There are several factors that can effectively extend the service life of crusher hammers:

)Control the Feed Size Appropriately: Based on the design model, ensure the feed size is controlled properly. Materials should never exceed the maximum design limits when entering the machine, to avoid excessive impact on the crusher hammers.

)Select Appropriate Feeding Equipment: Choose suitable feeding equipment, such as a plate feeder or vibrating feeder, to ensure stable and uniform feeding. Uneven feeding can cause equipment impact and ineffective operation, which can affect the wear of the crusher hammers.

)Replace Hammers Regularly: Due to casting quality variations, high-manganese or high-chromium steel hammers should be replaced timely and appropriately to ensure even wear of the hammers and balanced rotor operation.

)When replacing with new crusher hammers, it is best to weigh them and divide them into groups based on their average weight, ensuring that each group has equal weight. Otherwise, an imbalanced rotor may cause vibrations during startup, which can reduce the effectiveness of extending the crusher hammers' service life.

)Check Clearances: When the machine stops, check the gap between the hammers and the screen bars, and between the screen bars and the screen mesh. Adjust if necessary and regularly replace the screen mesh. As hammers are more costly than screen bars, new hammers can last 4-5 times longer compared to old hammers.

)Hammer Frame Maintenance: The hammer frame is made of cast steel and has limited contact with materials, but it is prone to damage or bending when metal objects enter the crusher or when the lining plate falls off. In such cases, the hammer frame should be replaced promptly to avoid vibration loss of the crusher hammers.

)Side Plate Protection: The side plates and chassis sides of the rotor are subjected to material impact, leading to significant wear. To extend the service life of the side plates, wear-resistant layers can be welded onto the surface and around the side of the plates.

)Protect the Shaft: The friction at both ends of the main shaft can cause wear. During installation, it is recommended to add two shaft sleeves around the shaft to protect it.

)Bearings Maintenance: After bearing wear, it should be repaired and adjusted promptly. Bearings generally need to be re-ground to new dimensions, and the thickness of the adjustment shims should be modified, leaving a proper gap for effective lubrication oil film formation.

)Rotor Power and Speed: The rotor's power and speed are directly related to the crusher's production capacity and the hammer's impact force. The hardness of the hammer also plays a role. To extend the life of the crusher hammers, ensure that the material of the hammers is suitable. For high-manganese steel hammers, ensure their impact force is sufficiently large; for high-chromium steel hammers, control the impact force to avoid excessive force.

)Use Quality Castings: Choose high-quality castings that can maintain their durability, ensuring the high-manganese or high-chromium steel hammers' longevity.
