The jaw crusher, also known as the jaw breaker or tiger mouth, is a widely used crushing device across various industries. It mimics the motion of an animal's upper and lower jaws, using a crushing chamber formed by a fixed jaw plate and a moving Jaw Plate to perform material crushing. This type of equipment excels in industries such as mining, metallurgy, construction materials, highways, railways, water conservancy, and chemicals, and is particularly suitable for processing various ores and large-sized materials.
In fields like mining, construction, and infrastructure development, jaw crushers are primarily used for primary and secondary crushing operations. Depending on the width of the feed opening, these crushers are categorized into large, medium, and small models. Crushers with a feed opening width greater than 600 mm are considered large, those with a width between 300 and 600 mm are medium, and crushers with a width smaller than 300 mm are small. Jaw crushers are simple in structure, easy to manufacture, and reliable in operation, making them capable of meeting different crushing needs.

The core jaw crusher wear parts are the two jaw plates. The fixed jaw plate (or stationary jaw) is usually mounted vertically (or slightly inclined) on the front wall of the machine, while the Moving Jaw Plate (or swing Jaw Plate) is inclined. Together, these two plates form a crushing chamber with a wide top and narrow bottom. During the crushing process, the Moving Jaw Plate moves back and forth in a cyclic motion. Material is fed into the crushing chamber when the jaws open, and the crushed material is discharged from the bottom. As the jaws close, the material is compressed, bent, and cracked between the two jaw plates, completing the crushing action.
It is important to note that wear of the jaw crusher wear parts is inevitable during prolonged use. To ensure the equipment operates effectively, it is crucial to regularly inspect and replace the worn parts. Based on the movement of the moving Jaw Plate, jaw crushers are divided into three types: simple pendulum jaw crushers, compound pendulum jaw crushers, and integrated pendulum jaw crushers. Different types of jaw crushers are suitable for various working environments and material crushing requirements, and users should select the appropriate equipment based on their specific needs.
By gaining a deeper understanding of jaw crushers and their wear parts, companies can better maintain their equipment, extend its service life, and improve production efficiency.
